Are bunions inherited?

  Does my shoe cause hammertoes and bunions?
Heredity is the predominant causative factor for bunions. Genetic predisposition, however is just one of many factors that influence the formation of a painful bunion. Environmental factors such as tight shoes or high heels also affect bunions and other pedal deformities.
  No, hammertoes and bunions are caused by pathomechanics, although shoe gear can aggravate the symptoms that can cause these problems.
 
Is foot surgery painful?   Our pediatrician says that our child will grow out of in-toeing - Is that true?

Foot pain following a surgical procedure is subjective, and varies with each individual patient. The severity of the procedure performed my also affect the level of discomfort a patient experiences.

Because sedation is available at each facility where our bone surgeries are performed, the actual surgical procedure is pain free. The doctors of Country Foot Care are experts at pain management, often producing a post-operative course that is far less painful than most patients anticipate.

  Although a child can grow out of some retained abnormal intrauterine positions, if the deformity is severe enough they might not grow out of it fully. Only early diagnosis and treatment would help them.
 
Can you do anything about foot odor?  

Is it true that the medication for nail fungus is harmful to your liver?

Yes, foot odor is caused when bacteria breaks down the components that make up sweat. Stopping the sweat with topical medications has a dramatic and often quick result.  

Many medications, including the medication we use for nail fungus, is metabolized in the liver. If you have liver problems or are taking another medication metabolized in the liver caution should be exhibited in their use. If you are healthy and not taking a medication metabolized in the liver, one "pulse dose" (1 week) or two can have dramatic results.

 
Can you get the root out of my calluses or corn so it does not return?   What is causing my feet itch, burn or sometimes scale?
No, there is no root to a corn or callous. They are not soft tissue problems but grow in response to abnormal position of the bone   The most common cause of itchy, burning feet is a fungus infection. This is easily treated with topical medications. If it is left untreated it will become severe and a bacteria infection may develop.
 
      Is a wart contagious?
      A wart is a virus that is spread by direct contact - so it can be contagious.
